The Maintenance Technician is responsible for helping to build the Vermont Smoke and Cure (VS&C) Maintenance programs. Responsible for maintaining Plant equipment and facility to ensure reliable and efficient operation in support of the production and distribution teams. Works to support the Production and Quality Teams to increase safety, quality, up-time, and efficiency. The position focuses on preventative, autonomous, predictive, reliability improvement and emergency repairs and continuous improvement to meet company goals, including safety, quality and operational performance targets.

Shifts: Afternoon/Evening Shift
Schedule:

8-hour Shift 
Mon-Fri 2:30 pm-11:00 pm 

Training would be required for about 3 months on day shift (Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm)

Essential Functions:

  • Help production teams and operators in the event of equipment malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance technicians to address complex technical challenges.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations to minimize production disruptions.
  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts and advise the Maintenance Manager of repair needs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and overall production up-time and efficiency.
  • Implement and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules to reduce the likelihood of equipment failures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Improves safety and health standards in all processes and practices.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Identify and rectify safety hazards associated with equipment and machinery.

Experience:

  • Previous vocation or training in a mechanical or electrical environment, manufacturing and /or food processing preferred but not necessary.
  • Candidate must be willing to undergo training on our specialized equipment, demonstrating a commitment to learning and adapting to our operational processes and safety standards.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
  • Technical College degree in a related field preferred.
