Responsible to ensure that facilities, layout and machinery run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment. May include training and assessing of other technicians and apprentices. Overall Purpose of the Role: Install, maintain, improve and repair equipment, plant, services and building installations to set levels effectively in compliance with best practices ensuring production efficiency can be met within a safe well-presented facility. Respond to technical issues affecting production and maintain electrical and mechanical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM). Responsible for multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative original solutions where results are key to successful completion of major projects. Work mostly independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • General and specific responsibilities for Food Safety and Quality Systems and Programs; hold non-confirming product and equipment; follow QMS standards, policies and procedures.
  • Diagnose causes of electrical, mechanical malfunction, failure of equipment, system repairs and replace defective components.
  • Operates mechanical tools and equipment, as required, to fabricate and repair industrial parts and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical programs and performs root cause analysis in partnership with operations to solve problems and make improvements.
  • Provide basic support of start-up of new equipment to ensure it meets all mechanical design specifications.
  • Interpret and revise loop sheets, electrical schematics, P&ID’s, I/O wiring and panel drawings.
  • Respond to site equipment and process alarms, troubleshoot and make effective repairs.
  • Prepare and complete written communications in compliance with all cGMP requirements.
  • Provides leadership and training to maintenance technicians.
  • Works closely with vendor’s new/old equipment creating standard work, preventative, autonomous, predictive and reliability programs - as well as ordering parts when/if needed.
  • Drives adherence to and awareness of safety standards in all processes and practices.
  • Ensures the Food Safety and Quality standards are consistently maintained.
  • Supervises contractors and technical specialists on-site so that only competent, well-trained personnel are performing professional work on our equipment, utilities and facilities.
  • Provides technical coverage in the absence of other Maintenance Technicians and the Plant Engineer.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems on manufacturing equipment, including controls and PLC’s.
  • All other duties as assigned and directed.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience required.
  • Prior experience working in machine manufacturing, preferred.
  • Prior experience working with mechanical, electrical and chemical systems.

Expected Hours of Work: Position is Monday through Friday.  The position may be on call and could be called back to the plant during off-duty hours. Flexibility for overtime a must.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Technical College degree in a related field preferred
